French Vernis Martin Display Cabinet with Matching Pedestals – Louis XV Style – 19th/20th Century

A highly decorative French Vernis Martin style vitrine with two matching flower stands (jardinières), crafted in kingwood veneer with gilt bronze mounts and hand-painted landscape panels.

The central cabinet features a serpentine front with a single glazed door and glazed quadrant side panels, opening to reveal a lined interior with glass shelving, ideal for displaying porcelain, glassware, or collectibles. The two matching tall pedestals, of bombe form, are decorated en suite with painted panels and ormolu mounts, designed to hold plants, lamps, or decorative objects.

The painted scenes, typical of the Vernis Martin tradition, depict romanticized landscapes in warm tones, complementing the richly figured kingwood veneer. The gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts add further luxury, framing the cabinet and pedestals with scrolling foliate details.

These two handcrafted metal biplanes have just flown in from the past — made in the UK and full of nostalgic charm. 💛

The smaller beauty is a classic Tiger Moth replica — a beloved RAF trainer from the 1930s — while the larger model is a showstopper in bold yellow and black, perfect for any aviation-themed shelf, study or man cave.

They’ve both had quite a journey, but after a gentle cleanse and a polish of the propellers, they’ll be ready for takeoff again.
