Antique French Clock Set – Gilded Bronze Mantel Clock with Candelabras, 1850s, Medaille d’Honneur Stamped – Ornate Rococo Revival – 8-Day Mechanical Movement
This exquisite antique French clock set is a true 19th-century treasure, crafted around 1850 and steeped in elegance and symbolism. Featuring an 8-day mechanical movement with a delicate half-hour bell strike, this ornate gilded bronze (ormolu) clock is adorned with a beautiful figure of a young girl in prayer to the Virgin Mary—a deeply romantic and spiritual motif typical of the Rococo Revival period.
Accompanied by a matching pair of five-arm candelabras, this garniture set makes a striking centrepiece for a mantel, console table, or curated antique collection. The clock is fully functional and comes complete with its original pendulum and winding key.
Stamped on the movement with the Medaille d’Honneur Paris mark and serial number 1465, this piece showcases the craftsmanship and artistry of 19th-century French horology.
