Antique French Louis XIV Boulle-Style Mantel Clock – Circa 1870 – Red Tortoiseshell Inlaid Brass – 8 Day Mechanical Movement – Original Pendulum & Key – Free Shipping Europe
Bring a touch of opulent French style to your home with this stunning Antique French Louis XIV-inspired mantel clock, dating to around 1870.
The case is richly decorated in the Boulle style, with beautiful red tortoiseshell inlay and intricate brass marquetry, a hallmark of the luxurious designs inspired by the court of Louis XIV. The clock features elegant rococo scrollwork, acanthus detailing, and a finely moulded brass surround.
Inside, the clock houses a traditional French 8-day mechanical movement, serial numbered 6460. The clock is currently running well, though the strike mechanism is not functioning — a common feature with clocks of this age and easily restored if desired. It comes with its original pendulum and winding key.
The enamel dial with hand-painted numerals adds further charm. The clock is in good vintage condition, showing small signs of age and gentle wear consistent with its history, but remains a beautiful and elegant display piece for any home.
